The building's textures—stone, wood, and glass—rise organically from the landscape, forging a strong connection between architecture and nature.

The kitchen occupies a slightly elevated position, creating a visual connection with the dining and living areas while framing breathtaking water views. This design choice reflects the natural contours of the cascading landscape.

Warm walnut slat walls define the entryway, while strategically placed windows create layered views of the building and surrounding landscape.

Following the natural contours of the landscape, a stone walkway guides you from the garage to the main house, complemented by terraced patios that provide multiple scenic overlooks of the Sheepscot River.

Every vantage point within the residence offers curated views, connecting the interior to the surrounding landscape. The communal spaces, overlooking the cove and river, are defined by articulated walls that create depth and texture, transcending the conventional flat window wall. Interior wall details, echoing the exterior siding, subtly dissolve the boundary between inside and out.

The building's entry orchestrates a transition from manicured grounds to the untamed landscape beyond. The structure's true scale, initially concealed, progressively unfolds down the hillside towards the river.

-
Intricate motifs frame the exterior windows, adding tactile depth. These details extend into the interior, unifying architecture and interiors into a cohesive, site-responsive space.

A moss garden and a grounding boulder frame a patio, creating an interstitial space that yields to the natural wilderness.

The ellipse is a highlight of the kitchen. Bent forms are a welcome challenge and were critical to the success of this kitchen.
-
Custom walnut slat walls define the entryway, integrating storage and a discreetly placed powder room along the hallway. Mirroring the terraced walkways of the exterior, the granite stairs are the same material as the entry path and patios.
